Welcome
The Equality, Education & Development Department plays a vital role in the life of the union, with an enviable reputation in the wider labour movement.
Every year, thousands of members and activists access hundreds of courses; from English, maths, IT, professional development, hobbies and interests, to the activist training that enables our reps to develop the skills and confidence to represent our members.
We offer lifelong learning services via our union learning centres, supported by a network of union learning representatives who offer support and encouragement to members wishing to develop their knowledge or skills.
For those wishing to learn online, we offer a wide range of learning opportunities for members to access at a time and place that suits them. Visit our Member Courses section for more information.
The CWU is committed to pursuing equality of opportunity for all members. We campaign on issues of importance to women, the BAME community, LGBT+ community and members with disabilities. We also support our NEC Leads and all of our Regional Leads for all our respective strand groups. In addition to providing advice and support linked to protected characteristics, this also extends to other areas of employment law where workers are protected. Visit the Equality section of this website to find more information and support.
