Introduction
This course is one of a series created for the CWU by Music Lessons Anywhere. In this course we will look at the building blocks of songwriting and introduces us to different tools and tricks to help with the creative process. This course uses MuseScore, open source composition software that is free to download. We have a separate course in MuseScore if you want to learn more about it.
Writing A Melody
In this section we will look at writing a melody, phrasing and high points, intervals, key signatures, rhythm and using tuners and recorders.

In this section we will look at lyrics, including theme and subject, structure, chorus placement, bars and 12 bar blues.

In this section we’ll look at tips to improve our songwriting skills, including using rhyme, consonance and assonance, balanced and unbalanced lines and much more.
