Regional Structure

All CWU branches belong to a Region

The CWU is made up of the following 5 regional areas:

  • Eastern & Midlands
  • London & South East
  • North East & North West
  • Northern Ireland & Scotland
  • South West & Wales and the Marches

In each region there are a series of National Networks and Regional Sub Committees

National Networks

National Networks serve as a direct channel between CWU headquarters and regional sub committees, focusing on non-industrial matters and broader trade union and political work.

The National Networks are as follows:

  • National Equality Network
  • National Education Network
  • National Political Network
  • National Health and Safety Network
  • National Young Workers Network
  • National Retired Members Network
  • National Retired members Network

Regional Sub Committees:

To support the work of the national networks each region has 6 regional sub committees, as follows:

  • Regional Equality Sub Committee – This committee is made up of Branch Women officers, Branch BAME officers and other branch Equality officers.
  • Regional Health and Safety Sub Committee – This committee is made up of Branch Lead Health and Safety Representatives
  • Regional Young Workers Sub Committee – This committee is made up of 1 young worker delegate per branch
  • Regional Retired Members Sub Committee – This committee is made up of 1 Retired Members delegate per branch
  • Regional Education, Learning and Training Sub-Committee – comprising of Branch Lead ULR’s and Branch Secretaries
  • Regional Political Sub-Committee comprising of Branch Political Officers.
