Artificial Intelligence, Bitesize Sessions Available On Demand
December 1 2025
Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are reshaping every industry and are becoming widespread in the workplace. They have the potential to alter job security, pay and working conditions. Without union intervention, these technologies will be designed and deployed solely in the interests of employers. It’s vital that unions and workers have a voice in any advancement of new technologies.
On 13th and 20th November 2025, CWU Education and Equality delivered two online bitesize learning sessions exploring what AI actually is and how it is affecting the workplace. The bitesize sessions were delivered by Adam Cantwell-Corn, who is a policy lead for the TUC Tech Project, as well as Head of Campaigns and Policy for Connected by Data. In addition to this Adam has worked with the Telecoms and Financial Services Executive to develop the practical skills to identify and negotiate the impact of AI on workers. The sessions he delivered are now available on the CWU Equality, Education & Development website, to be viewed on demand.
- Session 1: Defining Artificial Intelligence: This session looked what Artificial Intelligence is (and what it isn’t). It also explored some of the terminology that is being currently used and the different types and applications of Artificial Intelligence.
- Session 2: AI in the Workplace: This session looked at how Artificial Intelligence is being used more and more in the workplace. It also explored how Artificial Intelligence is currently being applied in the workplace and the impact that this is having on workers. There was also a discussion about what the potential benefits and issues are for CWU members.
