BAME Representatives in the CWU say “Knowledge is Power”
September 22 2025
The latest cohort of CWU Reps, mainly BAME and Equality Officers completed their BAME Representatives in the CWU course held at the lovely grounds of Quorn Grange in Loughborough.
There was intense discussion around the contemporary issue of the far-right protests and genuine fear was expressed about the political direction that seems to be gaining momentum.
The course was an opportunity for the reps to look in detail at some of the role models in the BAME communities with excellent debates on the Grunwick dispute and the Bristol Bus Boycott respectively.
Ali Moosa BAME NEC member was also present on the course and his contribution was invaluable to the students.
One student commented that he had been on the previous Black Leadership courses and found this one completely different. “Everything was new, and it was really interesting”.
