CWU Wales Digital Inclusion Project
October 3 2024CWU Wales and The Marches region has been awarded an Activation Grant and National Device Bank laptops by Good Things Foundation.
Good Things Foundation say that ‘the Activation Grant is for organisations who are new to the National Digital Inclusion Network looking to take their first steps with digital inclusion.’ CWU Wales and the Marches have spent the £1,000 grant on new computers which will be used to deliver Learn My Way digital inclusion support in Chester Mail Centre. This support will help CWU members and their families learn how to get online and access digital services.
In addition to the grant, CWU Wales and the Marches have also been awarded 10 laptops as part of the National Device Bank scheme. These laptops have been gifted to members on low-wages who had no device of their own. They will be used for a range of reasons including accessing courses, helping children with homework, and keeping in touch with family.
Wales Project Worker Phil Cherrington said ‘it’s great to work with Good Things Foundation who have very kindly offered us this support to help our members. We hope to continue this work to ensure that all CWU members can get any help they need to get online.’
Reps are welcome to contact Phil at pcherrington@cwu.org if they would like to talk about applying for Good Things Foundation grants.
