Domestic Abuse Champion Training
August 26 2025
The South East Region recently organised a Domestic Abuse Champion course for reps, which was delivered by the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV). The two-hour training session was hosted remotely by Charlotte Woodward. Its interactive format allowed plenty of time for questions and debate. The training covered:
- Definition of domestic abuse
- Behaviour Typologies and dynamics
- Prevalence and statistics
- Impact on employee, colleagues and business
- Signposting
- Confidentiality
- Policy & Practice
After the event, all attendees were given a a certificate, NCDV training handbook, a copy of the slides, and a link to the NCDV 1-hour free training on civil protection orders.
“I would highly recommend this training to all branches and regions,” said Colin Fanning, the South East Learning Lead, “The training provided by the NCDV was excellent and well delivered, having this new knowledge will enable me to confidently give, information, support and guidance to members.”
Other attendees also found the course very useful.
“The NCDV Champions Course at HQ was an invaluable opportunity to deepen our understanding of domestic violence prevention and strengthen our ability to support victims. Equipped with new tools and strategies, we’re now better prepared to drive positive change not only in the workplaces but also in our communities.” Ed Baldwin (Kent Invicta Branch)
“I attended a course organised by Colin Fanning and presented by a member of staff from NCDV. I am interested in any group who stands against domestic violence and was eager to learn as much as I could. I had no idea that NCDV could provide so much practical help – both moral, practical and perhaps most significantly legal. They can help get Protective Orders and such. Having done many courses, I would say this was one of the most powerful ones.” Michael Shadia (Southdowns, Weald & Rother Branch)
