Driving Learning Forward in Cardiff Mail Centre
November 27 2025CWU reps are working hard to expand learning opportunities for members in and around Cardiff Mail Centre.
On Tuesday 25 November, South East Wales Amal Lead ULR Ryan Williams and Wales Project Worker Phil Cherrington delivered a successful learning day at the Cardiff Mail Centre and Delivery Office.
They spoke with more than 60 workers, providing information and guidance on CWU’s Wales Union Learning Fund project and a range of other learning opportunities, including the Welsh Government’s Personal Learning Accounts scheme and the Good Things Foundation’s Learn My Way platform. The event helped raise the profile of learning across the sites, with several workers signing up for new courses.
This session built on the success of an earlier learning day, when LRC Training hosted a heavy-goods vehicle (HGV) apprenticeship promotional event. The LRC team brought their HGV simulator to the mail centre, giving workers a hands-on experience of what HGV driving involves. Since that event, more than 20 members have enrolled in driving apprenticeships through LRC.
Phil Cherrington said; ‘It’s great to see so many members engaging with learning. The team at South East Wales Amal are doing a great job to promote learning in their branch and are working hard to provide as many opportunities as possible for their members’.
