IT Courses at Jubilee Learning Centre

Since the opening of the Jubilee Learning Centre, they have been running a Basic Computer Skills course every Wednesday. There are a few more sessions left before they conclude the course but it is proving both successful and enjoyable. The photo above shows the students during one of their practical sessions, where they various parts of a computer by opening a PC case.

The course enables members who have never had the chance to understand technology before, to learn basic IT skills from scratch, while gaining hands-on experience. SW Middx Branch ULR, Ashish Parmar, says that after concluding this course, members will gain foundational digital literacy; the ability to set up a computer, navigate Windows comfortably, manage files and folders, and connect peripherals using various ports and connectors.

They will also develop practical software and internet skills, including installing and uninstalling applications, browsing the web securely, basic rules of composing emails, working with attachments, and using keyboard shortcuts. They will also learn security and maintenance skills, such as creating strong passwords, recognising phishing scams, using antivirus software, and backing up data to protect their system and personal information.

Congratulations to all involved.
