John McAlinden wins STUC Award

CWU Learning Rep John McAlinden has won the STUC Helen Dowie Award for Lifelong Learning. The award recognises trade unionists who lead the learning movement forward in Scotland.

John, who is a member of Edinburgh Dundee & Borders branch, is widely respected for his commitment to lifelong learning which is so essential to maintain transferable skills and job security. Working with the CWU Scotland Education & Learning Committee, John has ensured delivery of industry recognised qualifications covering Cyber Security, PRINCE 2 and Cisco CCNA.

John is keen to ensure that learning evolves to suit a wide range of needs in an ever-changing world. By working closely with learning providers he has ensured their models of delivery meet the needs of learners, leading to exceptionally high and successful completion rates.
