Joyce Takes Positive Step
June 11 2026A postal worker from G21/22 Delivery Office is encouraging others to prioritise their wellbeing after joining a local gym through the CWU physical health and mental health campaign.
Joyce decided to sign up to her local mail centre gym in Glasgow after seeing information and support being promoted through the campaign, which aims to encourage members to focus more on both their physical and mental well-being.
Since joining, Joyce says the experience has already made a huge difference to her day-to-day life.
“I had been thinking about doing something for a while, but the campaign really gave me the push I needed,” Joyce said. “Being a postie can be physically demanding and mentally draining at times, so I wanted to do something positive for myself. Joining the gym has helped my confidence, fitness and overall mindset.”
The campaign, led by Peter Knox, CWU Regional Lead ULR Scotland, has been encouraging members across workplaces to take small positive steps towards improving their health.
“Joyce should be really proud of herself for taking that first step,” said Peter, “Our jobs can be tough, both physically and mentally, so we must continue to promote well-being and healthy lifestyle choices among members. Sometimes all people need is a bit of encouragement and support to get started. Hopefully Joyce’s story inspires others to do the same.”
The CWU continues to promote health, well-being, and learning opportunities for members across Scotland. For more information contact Peter Knox, Regional Lead ULR Scotland peter.knox@cwuglasgow.com
