LGV Success In Wales

Congratulations to postal worker, Alicia Roberts, for successfully completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles! Alicia’s apprenticeship programme was tailored to include funding for her to upskill her driving licence to a Category C+E licence.

In November 2022, following effective training received from our associate training provider, Gatewen Training Services Limited, Alicia triumphantly passed her LGV Category C licence.

Alicia enjoyed her LGV driving experience so much that she decided to drive forward and upskill to a Category C+E licence. For funding to support this cost she progressed onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles.

Alicia said, “LGV licence acquisition is expensive, I wouldn’t have been able to fully fund my own LGV training at this time. I am grateful to our CWU Lead Union Learning Representative, Adrian Prins, for making me aware of the LGV funding via the Apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles. The apprenticeship opportunity allowed me to upskill my driving licence whilst helping me develop my driving knowledge and skills. The apprenticeship process has helped me become a confident, professional LGV driver. The apprenticeship has provided me with recognised industry qualifications that I can present to future employers. The support received from all involved has been amazing, I’m particularly grateful for the guidance and support received from my vocational assessor, Wayne Brown. I would recommend this apprenticeship to anyone wanting a career in driving.”

The Communication Workers Union is building partnerships with educational establishments and training providers such as, LRC Training, so that they can support their members learning and career development. Lead Union Learning Representative, Adrian Prins, has been instrumental in the promotion and co-ordination of Apprenticeship recruitment in North Wales. 34 members have been signed up for the Driving Goods Vehicles apprenticeship since January 2023.
