The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch is coming on 23rd – 25th January 2026. Not only is it a great opportunity to get more acquainted with the wildlife in your area, it is a great opportunity for family learning – and a cheap and enjoyable way of having fun with the kids.
As well as observing the birds, you are also counting them, writing them down and using books or the internet to identify them. If you want to get more involved, you could even set up a spreadsheet to record your findings, or a slideshow, or a report. From one small event any number of different learning opportunities present themselves.
If you don’t have a garden, you can count them from your balcony or the local park.
