Sexual Harassment Course Delivered in York
June 25 2026
One of the first pilot Sexual Harassment courses was delivered in York this week.
There were 12 in attendance, including the NE/NW Regional Official and a Branch Secretary, along with a range of reps from Equality, Area H&S and IR.
The course content covered the rationale behind the new workshop, along with statistics on sexual harassment, the new CWU Sexual Harassment Toolkit, templated letter and supporting documents which all found useful and will take back to their workplaces.
Safeguarding was in place from the outset, some of the content of the course was hard hitting, with trigger warnings in place throughout the day.
We explored a variety of reasons why sexual harassment goes unreported which was very thought provoking.
There was good debate around experiences in our own workplaces and how we, as reps and the CWU could provide support and raise awareness around sexual harassment.
By the end of the course, all the reps felt that they had learnt key skills in how to identify, understand and support anyone affected by sexual harassment.
