Trade Unions Play Key Part in Huge Anti-Racism Response

Anti-Racists from all over the UK converged on central London on the 26th October to counter a rally by the Far-Right. Media reports indicated that there was some 30,000 anti-racists protesting against the far-right.

Thousands of trade unionists, including an excellent show from The Communications Workers Union marched from Regents Street to Horse Guards Parade on Whitehall to show their support to the anti-racism movement.

Our General Secretary Dave Ward was one of the speakers on the day and part of his message outlined the need for the movement to come together and for the narrative to change. The working class message was clear throughout the day that there was so much more that unites us than divides us. Similar messages from trade union leaders such as Jo Grady UCU General Secretary also backed Dave’s message.

A number of Labour MPs spoke to support the rally as did the Dep. Leader of the Green Party Zack Polanski who joined anti-racists to give his support.
